There’s really no need to arrive before this and remember, we may be teaching so arriving 5 minutes before works well for everyone. If your child is nervous before hand, tell them not to worry! All kids are a little apprehensive, prior to the introductory session, it’s perfectly natural.
Your child won’t need any school books or pencils whatsoever. We will provide everything.
Both you and your child will be invited into our waiting room for introductions. You will then be required to give some basic details regarding your children’s educational history, and more importantly, any medical aspects regarding your child’s care that you think that we should know about. If you haven’t got all the information we require to hand don’t worry, we can collect it at a later stage.
You will then be shown the teaching room, where an informal test will have been prepared to specifically for your child’s strengths and weaknesses. The assessment part usually lasts about 20 minutes and involves both written and oral questioning. Once the test has been marked, verbal feedback will be presented to the parent. We tend to suggest a starting topic, using the assessment as a diagnostic tool.
However, if there is a specific topic area that you would like your child to start with then feel free to say! You will then be encouraged to ask any questions you may have regarding our tuition services and you’ll be shown the relevant Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) certificates. It’s as simple as that!
We always encourage parents and children to go home and discuss your decision in private. If you liked the experience, then call back and we’ll be delighted to arrange a session for you.
